Versus reporter gets down to business

At 30, Erin Sharoni has arrived at last at a logical career point for someone who attended LaGuardia High School in Manhattan – the original inspiration for the film “Fame’’ – worked for six years on Wall Street and always has loved sports.

This fall she has been the “sideline reporter’’ for Darren Rovell’s Versus show about sports business, “CNBC Sports Biz: Game On.’’

“It’s been a very long and windy road, the culmination of everything I’ve done before,’’ said Sharoni, whose resume also includes stints as a swimming coach, personal trainer and dancer.

Rovell met her last year when she was at CNBC to promote FILA’s Body Toning System, for which she modeled. She told him she was working in finance and hating it.

Soon the discussion turned to the Jets, then to the promotional power of Twitter, which in turn led the Queens native to a gig as a reporter for St. John’s games online and for “Red Storm Report’’ on SNY.

When Versus launched Rovell’s show, she was an obvious addition.

“This is the greatest thing I’ve ever done,’’ she said. “I never knew working could be fun.’’
