St. John's stars on ESPN3
St. John’s sports TV future is up in the air – along with that of every other current and future Big East school – but in the meantime the school is creatively trying to shape some of that future for itself.
The school announced a deal with Web-based ESPN3 to carry about 60 events this academic year produced by St. John’s itself, including baseball, women’s basketball, softball and lacrosse.

CBS eyes New Orleans takeover
Strange but true: There were far more journalists and people in suits (and even some journalists in suits) at CBS’ event Tuesday previewing its Super Bowl coverage in New Orleans than there were at the Rex Ryan/Woody Johnson presser at the same time.
Such is the power of the Super Bowl, an event that draws from the worlds of sports, news, business and show biz. (Plus, CBS’ event was catered.)

Last words (?) on Katherine Webb
Let me be the last to weigh in on the matter of Katherine Webb, beauty pageant winner, aspiring model (including, reportedly, a spot in SI's Swimsuit Issue) and close personal friend of Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron.

No doubt. But... » more

Bill Cowher talks Sanchez, possible return to coaching
A complete transcript of an interesting conversation I had with CBS analyst Bill Cowher Tuesday at an event to promote the network's coverage of SB47:
First, I asked Cowher whether with all of the openings around the league he was tempted by any of them. He said this:
"No, no, no, no. Hey, we have the Super Bowl. All these coaches are trying to get there. I know I'm going to be... » more
