Bob Papa, Cris Collinsworth call two practice games

Being the professional busybody that I am, I spent some of my idle time at NFL Films last week studying the crew schedule on a bulletin board, where I noticed that on Oct. 8 and 21 Cris Collinsworth and Bob Papa were down for rehearsals for their new NFL Network booth partnership.

Sure enough. Collinsworth confirmed that in preparation for their first game together Nov. 6, the two practiced over tapes of Patriots-Jets and Bengals-Steelers - rematches they will see in Weeks 11 and 12.

"I love him," Collinsworth said of Papa. "He’s such an easy guy to work with. People nationally are probably going to go: Who’s this? But to some extent that’s good. What I think they’re going to see out of it after doing a couple of practice games is, this guy knows the league because he’s doing that Sirius radio show, so every day he’s looking at the topics and what’s going on.

"When it turns into talk radio [in a blowout] and turns into the issues of the day here’s a guy who’s on it. We may not agree on everything but he knows and he’s talked to participants."
