Covering Super Bowl XLII a privilege and responsibility
Yeah, I know I quoted this Sean Murphy guy in an article only a month ago, but I did it again in my Friday newspaper column because he's a diehard and because he knows many other Giants supporters and thus understands Big Blue fans.
(There's another piece of the column to come Friday morning.)
Talking to him I could hear in his voice the crushing disappointment of not winning the Super Bowl ticket lottery and not having the ridiculous dough required otherwise. It made me feel guilty about the mild whining I've been doing about all the work (and extracurricular nonsense) involved in covering a local team in the big game.
Believe me, I understand the privilege of being able to attend what will be a historic event either way, and I appreciate the responsibility of doing my best to bring it home to you, along with my able Newsday colleagues.
