Cris Collinsworth always talked a good game

Super Bowl media days have come a long way in the past 30 years, but some things never change.

NBC analyst Cris Collinsworth is a professional talker these days. But he was good at it even as a young Bengals receiver in Super Bowl XVI against the 49ers.

Collinsworth said before Super Bowl week began, coach Forrest Gregg addressed the entire team and said this:

“Listen, guys, you’re going to be asked to do this media stuff every day this week. Every one of you is going to run out of stuff to say about halfway through the first day’s session, except Collinsworth. Just do what he does. Just make up a bunch of stuff. They won’t know if it’s true or not.

“By the time they figure out if it’s true, the game will be over and they’ll be moving on to another story, so don’t worry about it.’’
