Giants and Jets last played at same time in '84

Sunday will be the first time the Giants and Jets have played at the same time - other than against each other - since Oct. 14, 1984, when the Giants were at Atlanta and the Jets at Cleveland.

Why? Not sure. The NFL still is looking into it. If you know, let them (or me) in on it.

Game 5 of the World Series was played late that afternoon - no, really, it was a day game - but that doesn't seem to be the reason, because CBS showed a Cowboys-Redskins game against the Series.

It wasn't Yom Kippur, which is the reason this weekend. Hmm. A little help here, WatchDog Nation.

Previous to 1984, the last time the teams went head-to-head was Nov. 19, 1978. I recall some arguing in the student union TV lounge about which game to watch.

Fortunately, someone turned to the Giants just before Herman Edwards . . . well, you know.
