Islanders ratings rose 100 percent in 2009-10 season

The bad news for the Islanders' TV ratings in 2009-10 is that they were the third-worst in the NHL, averagaing 0.36 percent of homes in the New York area on MSG Plus.

The good news: They were up 100 percent from last season, second-best in the league to the Blackhawks' 131.1 percent, according to research by the Sports Business Journal based on data from The Nielsen Co.

The Rangers were down 18.3 percent to an average of 0.89 and the Devils were up 48.7 percent to an average of 0.58.

The biggest percentage drop for any team was the Wild's minus-27.4 perccent.

The Penguins had the best average rating at 8.05, ahead of the Sabres (6.45) and Red Wings (4.21). Those three by far were the highest-rated markets in the NHL.

The Panthers' 0.25 average rating was the league's worst.
