Of course, Joe Benigno is far from the only sports yakker to benefit from fans curious about his take in the wake of a local-team meltdown.

Take his WFAN colleague Mike Francesa, for example.

Sunday night's "Mike'd Up" on Ch. 4 averaged 5.0 percent of area households, benefiting partly from the strong Giants-game lead-in, but also from an event that happened earlier in the evening in Seattle.

Let's put it this way: The rating was the best for the show since Sept. 30, 2007, the night the baseball team that used to share a stadium with the Jets blew a playoff berth on the final day of the regular season.

(Big WatchDog kudos to the first person to identify the former Jet in the picture.)
