MSG hires new Isles reporter
Hey, gang, it's hockey season! And just in time MSG Plus has hired a new Islanders reporter to replace Deb Placey, who moved to the Devils, and Rob Carlin, who moved to the Capitals.
His name is Peter Ruttgaizer. I don't know much about him, other than that he's Canadian. He even used to cover the CFL!
Here's the news release MSG sent the other day:
MSG Networks announced that Peter Ruttgaizer has been named the host and reporter for New York Islanders telecasts. Ruttgaizer will make his debut on MSG Plus when the Islanders open their season at home on Saturday, October 8 at 8:00 p.m. versus the Florida Panthers.
“Peter has a real passion for hockey and we are confident he will bring a terrific energy to our Islanders telecasts,” said Dan Ronayne, executive vice president and general manager, MSG Networks.
“I’ve always respected and admired MSG Networks, and the Islanders are a hockey team with a great history, so I’m honored to have this opportunity,” said Ruttgaizer. “MSG Networks has two of the premiere sports and entertainment networks in the country and I’m excited to get started with Howie, Butch and the talented production staff.”
Ruttgaizer, a Toronto native, spent the past three seasons as a host and reporter for Altitude Sports Network in Denver, Colorado, and was part of the network’s coverage of the Colorado Avalanche. Ruttgaizer has also worked for CBC Sports, EastLink Television, TSN in Winnepeg and CTV in Toronto covering professional and junior hockey as well as the CFL.
Islanders games on MSG Networks will be preceded by a half-hour pre-game show and followed by a 30-minuute post-game or “HOCKEY NIGHT LIVE.” “HOCKEY NIGHT LIVE,” which is telecast on both MSG Network and MSG Plus, will follow Saturday night games throughout the season.
