MSG announced a four-part documentary series on the 1986 Mets that will appear on consecutive nights from March 1-4.

Speaking of the '86 Mets, it is a pretty fair bet that the Game 6s of that year's NLCS and World Series will turn up on MLB Network's "MLB's 20 Greatest Games."

The series features Bob Costas (formerly of Commack) and Tom Verducci (formerly of Newsday) discussing the best games of the past 50 years with key figures from said games.

The countdown is up to No. 16, the 2009 tiebreaker between the Tigers and Twins, premiering at 8 p.m. Monday.

No. 1 will be revealed in mid-May. Could it be Game 6 of the '86 World Series? Stay tuned, as they say in writer cliche-land.

I just realized that the public relations people who alerted me to the two series above happen to be married to one another.

Didn't originally intend this post with that in mind, but sort of cool it turned out that way.
