NCTC weighs in on Cablevision-Tennis Channel tiff

The National Cable Television Cooperative sent a statement this afternoon supporting Cablevision's side in its carriage dispute with Tennis Channel.

Here it is:

NCTC wants to clarify recent factual misstatements regarding NCTC and its members made by The Tennis Channel.

NCTC responded in writing to The Tennis Channel on August 27, 2009. That letter documents that Cablevision is an NCTC member.

Cablevision is also a participating member under our agreement with The Tennis Channel, and as such is entitled to carry the network.

We are unaware of any previous launch request where The Tennis Channel delayed authorization for 30 days.

The only real issue is if The Tennis Channel feels it is prudent and appropriate to delay authorization, preventing Cablevision's customers from enjoying this year's U.S. Open.
