New Meadowlands Stadium opens, with WatchDog watching

Hello again, friends! I spent the past couple of days reconnecting with my old football writer confreres and contributing to our coverage of the first two regular-season games at New Meadowlands Stadium.

Read all the latest here (Giants) and here (Jets).

Here is my article about the Giants' opener and here is my article about the Jets' opener.

If the latter sounds a little too cheery, my excuse is that I wrote most of it before the Jets offense took the field.

Also during Monday night's game I had a pleasant chat with TV Azteca reporter Ines Sainz. Here is that story.

Ms. Sainz has spoken to other reporters as well over the past couple of days, and today appeared on CBS', NBC's and ABC's national morning shows.

IMHO, she is doing a good job - especially considering English is not her first language - walking a delicate line by on one hand taking the matter seriously but on the other not overstating Saturday's incident.

She also has handled awkward questions about her style of dress deftly.

Naturally, many of the media outlets that have made a big splash of her story conveniently have taken the opportunity to use multiple pictures and/or videos of her.

Anyway, at this point Ms. Sainz is a much smaller problem for the Jets than the fellow she eventually interviewed Saturday: the quarterback.
