Nike exec neutral on LeBron team
Before driving to Philadelphia Wednesday night I went to Manhattan for a Nike / USA Basketball news conference to announce the World Basketball Festival, coming to New York in August.
I asked the president of the Nike brand whether the company has a preference for where LeBron James lands. Here is my story about that.
It was my first Nike-produced news conference extravaganza.
Let's just say the production values were more involved than a Wednesday morning meeting between Tom Coughlin and the news media. There also were many more nationalities represented among the journalists in attendance.
The opening act was the Boys and Girls Choir of Harlem Alumni Ensemble singing "Empire State of Mind."
I'm pretty sure it's a law now that the song must be sung at every public gathering within the five boroughs.
