Pats sputter on D
On Day Three of my wild and wacky week in Foxborough, I wrote here about the Patriots' 31st-ranked defense, which is a minor miracle given who their head coach is and given the fact they currently are 9-2.
I had been warned by veteran football scribes that the Patriots' locker room is one of the most depressing, pointless places in America for working journalists, which was true.
The most amusing moment of the week came when the Patriots' transcript of Bill Belichick's Thursday news conference arrived.
Belichick had sarcastically joked coaches spent Wednesday's players' day off playing golf, bowling, holding a badminton tournament, canoeing and riding ponies.
On the transcript, though, he was quoted referring to a "bad mitten tournament."
