Rangers-Flyers was top-rated regular season game since '95

Unfortunately, I did not have access to this statistic in time for my Tuesday newspaper article, but here it is for loyal WatchDog readers:

Sunday's Rangers-Flyers game, which averaged 2.72 percent of area homes, was the highest-rated regular-season Rangers game on MSG since April 20, 1995!

That day the Rangers played the Whalers and averaged a 2.92 rating. Battling for a playoff berth, the Blueshirts won on a controversial goal by Petr Nedved.

Another thing I didn't mention in the newspaper article was the unfortunate matter of MSG not showing coach and player interviews on the Rangers postgame show.

It happened because the Knicks game was starting live, the Devils were playing on MSG Plus and the Islanders were on an overflow channel.

MSG did put the postgame interviews on its Web site and also added them after the TV replay of the game Sunday night.

But before leaving the truncated Rangers postgame, studio host Bill Pidto (Cornell Class of '87) should have advised viewers when and where they could find the interviews.

This ends our blogging day.
