Showtime recalls history of AFL

Granted, I'm a sucker for this sort of thing, but if you have Showtime I recommend the first of its five-part documentary series, "Full Color Football: The History of the American Football League," which premieres at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

The first episode covers the origins of the league through 1962.

Sammy Baugh, first coach of the New York Titans, on his experiences at the Polo Grounds:

"Worst damn place I ever saw. Made me sick just to walk onto the field."

Coolest film clip: A fan running into the end zone to break up a potential TD pass for the Texans against the Patriots in Boston in 1961.
