New York Yankees manager Joe Torre, left, New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, center, and Yankees owner George Steinbrenner pose with the 1999 World Championship Trophy at City Hall during the Yankees' victory celebration in Manhattan. The Yankees clinched a record 25th World Series title Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium, sweeping the Atlanta Braves in four straight games, the second straight year the Bronx Bombers have gone unbeaten in the Fall Classic. Here is the main element of my Friday newspaper column, for which I talked to the top two day-to-day business leaders of Yankees Universe - Randy Levine and Lonn Trost - amid the championship celebration in the once-controversial new stadium they helped launch.

They confirmed the obvious:

Championship No. 27 will be very good for business in general, especially the most important element of the business - the Yankees brand.

Enjoy the parade, everyone. My editor informed me Thursday I will not be needed as part of our coverage, allowing me to extend my 49-year streak of avoiding sports parades.

One of the WatchDog pups will be there, though. Please be nice to her, inebriated Yankees fans.
