Neil Best leaves no stone unturned in the world of sports media.

Yankees will play in English on Ch. 5, in Spanish on Ch. 9

Here are three other elements of my Friday newspaper column.

They include a look at declining national TV ratings for baseball during the 2009 regular season, an experiment by WWOR to show the ALCS in Spanish and a brief, superficial answer to a common question this week:

Why the heck couldn't the start of the ALCS have been moved from Friday to Wednesday?

Among the many scheduling complications during the postseason is that unlike in the past MLB avoids having more than one game going on at the same time.

The TV networks prefer it that way, as do avid fans. But it makes things trickier.

I'm rooting for the Yankees to get in their games Friday and Saturday, because I already am bored by the debate over what would happen if there is a rainout . . . and it hasn't even happened yet!
