Federal Donuts is popping up at a second NYC location

You don’t have to take the train to Philly or order a cocktail to taste chef Mike Solomonov’s buzzy cake doughnuts this Friday.

Federal Donuts — the doughnut, fried chicken and coffee mini-chain known for attracting long lines in the City of Brotherly Love — is hosting a one-day pop-up at Chelsea Market (75 Ninth Ave.) on Oct. 20.

Head to Solomonov’s hummus stall Dizengoff between 7 and 10 a.m. for $2 sugar-coated doughnuts, spiced with Middle Eastern aromatics, and free coffee from Ninth Street Espresso. You’ll be able to choose one of three sugar coatings: strawberry lavender; Indian cinnamon, with La Boite’s Sri Lanka spice; and Apollonia, with notes of clove, orange blossom and pepper.

The pop-up celebrates Federal Donut’s new cookbook, “Federal Donuts: The (Partially) True Spectacular Story,” which hit shelves last month.

Solomonov, the James Beard Award-winning chef of Philadelphia’s Zahav, his co-author and business partner Steve Cook and Federal Donuts chef Matt Fein will be on site to sign book copies.

Buy one for $16.99, and you’ll get a complimentary doughnut.

FedNuts, as cult fans affectionately call it, has been promoting its book with a month-long residency at the NoMad Bar (10 W. 28th St.) since Oct. 3, but glazed doughnuts there cost $5 with a drink purchase, and they come in a different set of flavors: crumberry (cranberry glaze and cranberry pie crumb), triple chocolate (chocolate glaze and chocolate cookie crumbs) and burnt caramel (dulce de leche glaze and burnt sugar).

The bar is also serving Solomonov’s fried chicken sandwich, with buttermilk-ranch seasoning, American cheese, a dill pickle and “spicy rooster sauce” on a potato roll, for $15.

FedNuts previously made a one-day New York City appearance last fall at Chef’s Club in NoHo, where it drew a line down the block of those eager to try its baked offerings.
