When the New England Patriots face off against the Seattle Seahawks on Feb. 1, pity the host who only has chips and salsa to offer their guests. If you're not a kitchen person, save yourself the humility and plan ahead.

Here are our suggestions for the best 2015 Super Bowl takeout options in NYC:

For grab and bite types


The Lower East Side restaurant that specializes in, you guessed it, taquitos (rolled tacos) has two delicious packages for the Super Bowl. Buffalo chicken taquitos (boneless chicken wings with buffalo sauce wrapped in a taco with blue cheese, etc. on the side) and burger and fries taquitos (with nacho cheese and ketchup and mayo "fancy sauce.") Cappone's Salumeria

Italian heroes filled with cold cuts and sandwich toppings will please any New Yorker. Order 3, 4 or 5-foot subs from this Gansevoort Market shop and choose from a variety of sandwiches and toppings. At this beloved downtown gem, Super Bowl food is a bit out of the box. Italian sandwiches, salads and antipasti and salumi platters will make your party a class above the rest. This Carroll Gardens Southern food eatery helmed by Rob Newtown and Kerry Diamond is delicious, perfect for the occasion and sustainably-sourced. What more could you ask for? Breads Bakery

Known for their babka, cookies and treats, Breads Bakery also makes delicious sandwiches and light lunch fare. For the Super Bowl they are offering chip and dip packages. Homemade chips are $14.95 (choice of baguette chips, cumin sticks, mini olive sticks or spicy cheese straw bites), dips served in a small Mason jar are $6 (tomato salsa, spinach, black bean, tahini or hummus) and a platter, with 3 chips and 1 dip is $24. Daniel Boulud's French brasserie is known to offer whimsical and worldly variations on classic French foods and for the Super Bowl this year, homemade and creative hot dogs and burgers are on the takeout menu. There are four packages: "The Underdogs" is $300 and comes with 18 dogs (choice of Tunisienne: spicy lam with mint, curry, harrisa and toppings; Thai: pork with lemongrass, kaffir lime, ginger, red curry and soy, topped with green papaya slaw, sriracha, peanuts and cilantro; DBGB: been with onion, mustard, ketchup, frisee, radish), housemade potato chips and ice cream and cookies. You can't go wrong with the food of Chang.
