A 48-year-old man was shot to death in Brooklyn early on Monday morning in what police at the scene described as a possible robbery of an alleged drug den.

Police officials reported that 79th Precinct officers found a large amount of marijuana inside the apartment where the shooting occurred

The shooting occurred just after 2 a.m. at a two-story, wood-frame row house on Pulaski Street between Marcy and Nostrand Avenues. Police say 10 or more people were inside the residence when there was a knock at the door.

Law enforcement sources said a friend of the victim apparently opened the door, and two young men wearing ski masks pushed their way inside, armed with handguns, and announced a robbery.

The victim, said to be the apartment’s primary occupant, confronted the two men and was shot in the abdomen. The suspects then fled the location, but it was unclear whether they took any property.

Paramedics rushed the victim to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police have not yet released his identity, pending family notification.

Cops said no firearms or casings were found at the scene, but investigators were checking for any other evidence as of early this morning.

No further description was available of the assailants.
