‘The Crown’ stars to reunite onstage

Claire Foy and Matt Smith, who played Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip respectively on the first two seasons of the Netflix series “The Crown”, will take the stage together in “Lungs,” a new play connecting parenthood with climate change, written by Duncan Macmillan (“People, Places & Things”) and directed by Matthew Warchus (“Matilda”), which will have a limited run at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in March and April. It previously played London’s Old Vic. 

McDonald and Mitchell returning to ‘Ragtime’

Audra McDonald and Brian Stokes Mitchell, who co-starred in the original 1997 Broadway production of “Ragtime,” will reunite for a one-night-only concert performance of the musical to benefit the Actors Fund on April 27 at Broadway’s Minskoff Theatre. The event will be dedicated to the memory of Marin Mazzie, who also appeared in the original production of “Ragtime” and died one year ago due to ovarian cancer. 

Gevinson cast as Squeaky in ‘Assassins’

Fashion journalism star and actress Tavi Gevinson will play Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme in Classic Stage Company’s spring Off-Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim’s dark musical “Assassins,” which examines the men and women who have assassinated and attempted to assassinate Presidents of the United States. The cast will also include Adam Chanler-Berat (“Peter and the Starcatcher”) as John Hinckley, Andy Grotelueschen (“Tootsie”) as Samuel Byck, Judy Kuhn (“Fun Home”) as Sara Jane Moore, Steven Pasquale (“Rescue Me”) as John Wilkes Booth, Will Swenson (“Hair”) as Charles Guiteau and Brandon Uranowitz (“Falsettos”) as Leon Czolgosz.

Narrator to be split in three in ‘Joseph’’

Just a week following the news that Noah Galvin will play Joseph in Manhattan Concert Productions’ upcoming one-night performance of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” the company has now revealed that the equally omnipresent role of the Narrator will be shared by Eden Espinosa (“Wicked”), Alex Newell (“Glee”) and Jessica Vosk (“Wicked”). The performance will be held on Feb. 17 at David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center.
