On Wednesday, Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, announced it had acquired a memoir by the Emmy Award-winning comedian, who was raised in Rockville Centre. Entertainment Weekly reported that Schumer received between $8 million and $10 million for the book. The book deal comes almost two weeks after Publishers Weekly, a trade magazine, reported that Kuhn was shopping a proposal with New York publishers. The project has been kept under tight wraps. Editors reportedly had to sign a nondisclosure agreement and go to the offices of Kuhn Projects to see the proposal. According to The Hollywood Reporter, eight publishers bid on the project. Schumer, 34, seems to be ubiquitous this year. Her Comedy Central show, "Inside Amy Schumer," won an Emmy for outstanding variety sketch series Sunday night. The show has been renewed for a fourth season. Schumer, who hosted the MTV Music Awards in April, opened for Madonna when the pop star played Madison Square Garden and Brooklyn's Barclays Center last week. Schumer's summer movie, "Trainwreck," directed by fellow Long Island native Judd Apatow, was a box-office hit, grossing more than $109 million domestically, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com. Schumer's book would be the latest in a series of successful titles by female comics, including Tina Fey's "Bossypants," for which the "30 Rock" creator and star is said to have received a $6 million advance. Other recent books include Amy Poehler's "Yes Please," Lena Dunham's "Not That Kind of Girl" and Mindy Kaling's "Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?" Kaling's second book, "Why Not Me?" came out last week.
