Women across the globe went on strike on Wednesday during the Day Without a Woman marches.

Organizers asked women to take the day off work, join in on a protest, avoid shopping except at small, women- and minority-owned businesses and wear red on International Women's Day.

Celebrities, including New Yorkers Kerry Washington and Lena Dunham, took to social media to share their support for the movement.

Washington, who appeared on "The Late Late Show with James Corden" on Tuesday night wearing red, wasn't able to get the day off work. But, the "Scandal" actress still tweeted a photo of herself wearing a Women's Day shirt and hoodie suit in support.
