Enrique Iglesias, injured by drone during concert, goes on with show

Enrique Iglesias slashed his right hand grabbing a drone at a concert in Tijuana, Mexico, Saturday night, but continued performing for half an hour.

“During the show a drone is used to get crowd shots and some nights Enrique grabs the drone to give the audience a Point of View shot,” his press agent, Joe Bonilla, explained on Instagram. “Something went wrong and he had an accident. He was semi-treated by crew on the side of the stage to try and stop the bleeding. He was advised to stop the show. He decided to go on and continued playing for 30 minutes while the bleeding continued,” according to Bonilla.

After the show, Iglesias “was rushed to the airport,” and put on a plane to Los Angeles “to see a specialist,” presumably a hand surgeon, Bonilla continued.

Fans in the crowd of 12,000 at Plaza de Toros de Playas (“bullring by the sea”) tweeted out pics of the 40-year-old heart throb performing with his crudely wrapped hand soaked with blood. Blood stained his white T-shirt in a large heart shape from Iglesias touching his chest with his bleeding hand. The severity of the injury was not immediately clear and adoring, concerned fans begged for updates on social media Sunday.

The next scheduled performance of the singer’s “Sex and Love World Tour” is July 3 in Mexico City.
