Gwyneth Paltrow, Chris Martin reach divorce settlement

Academy Award-winner Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin have reached a settlement in their divorce proceedings, clearing the way for a final judgment.

People magazine, citing a court document filed by Paltrow on an unspecified recent date, said the couple has entered into a formal agreement on the division of their property and on child support, as well as agreeing not to seek spousal support. Paltrow, 43, and Martin, 36, long ago agreed to joint custody of their children, daughter Apple, 12, and son Moses, 10.

The remaining step is for a judge to finalize the divorce.

Paltrow had filed on April 20, 2015, a little over a year after the two announced they were separating — calling it “conscious uncoupling.” The documents specified the date of their separation as May 2013, nearly a year before the announcement. Paltrow, named People magazine’s 2013 Most Beautiful Woman, and Martin had married on Dec. 5, 2003, after nearly a year together.

The two have had a highly amicable separation, and on May 15, Paltrow posted a photo of themselves at Disneyland in California, where they were treating Apple on her birthday weekend, writing, “When your parents can’t handle Thunder Mountain anymore so they wait for you at the bottom.”

“We are parents first and foremost,” Paltrow and Martin wrote on their “conscious uncoupling” statement in 2014.
