Oprah tweets Stedman Graham wedding rumors are ‘not true’

Media mogul Oprah Winfrey shot down a tabloid report Tuesday that claimed she and longtime beau Stedman Graham were planning a wedding.

“6 people who know me well have called today congratulating me or surprised they weren’t invited to my wedding. IT’s NOT TRUE!!” tweeted the 62-year-old former talk-show host and now head of the cable channel OWN and other ventures.

When one fan informed her, “It was in Star magazine!!!!!,” Winfrey responded, “Ok. I was like what’s going on??” Another fan kidded her, “So your friends were grocery shopping today,” prompting the reply, “Yep every one of them texted from a grocery store.”

Representatives for Winfrey additionally confirmed to GossipCop.com, “The report is untrue.”

Winfrey and self-help author and management consultant Graham, 65, have been together since 1986 and had planned to marry in 1993. While interviewing writer-producer Shonda Rhimes on the OWN show “SuperSoul Sunday” in November, Winfrey recalled, “I wanted Stedman to want to marry me. The moment he asked me to marry him I was, like . . . ‘Now I actually have to get married?’ “

Concerns over the scheduling of a Winfrey book project, which never materialized, prompted Graham to suggest postponing the wedding, she explained. “I said, ‘OK.’ And that was it. We have never discussed it again.”

She added, “What I realized is, I don’t want to be married because I could not have the life that I created for myself . . . I knew that I couldn’t do it.”
