Celebrated actor and activist George Takei took to Facebook on Thursday to thank Broadway for its diversity.
“In a year when the movie industry celebrated only white actors for awards, then used gross stereotypes of Asians during the broadcast to gain cheap laughs, Broadway celebrated its most diverse year ever,” he wrote.
Takei made his debut on Broadway in November 2015 in “Allegiance,” a musical based on his Japanese-American family’s experience in internment camps following the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941.
