Kathy Griffin sells out Carnegie Hall in new North American tour

Kathy Griffin, who saw numerous tour dates canceled last May after she posed in a satirical photo with a decapitated-head effigy of President Donald Trump, has sold out Carnegie Hall in a new North American tour.

The comedian’s representatives announced dates Monday for the North American leg of her “Laugh Your Head Off” world tour. Griffin, 57, launches in Ottawa, Ontario, on May 23 and concludes in Chicago on June 28.

She had tweeted over the weekend, “I just found out that my Carnegie Hall show sold out in a day. I’m in shock. For most of the past year I was convinced that my career was over . . . I have felt moments of despair that I can’t describe in a tweet,” prompting supportive responses from music and theater stars Betty Buckley, Cyndi Lauper and Bette Midler, journalist Maria Shriver, actress Amber Tamblyn and “Dilbert” cartoonist Scott Adams.

Responding Monday to an internet troll who called her “a has been,” Griffin tweeted, “Oh yes, a has been who just sold out Carnegie Hall. Bye!”
