Five years almost to the day since the last Pee-wee Herman special premiered, Paul Reubens is bringing the cult-classic character to Netflix.
“Pee-wee’s Big Holiday,” co-written by Reubens and co-produced by him and Judd Apatow, debuts on the streaming service Friday, March 18, at 3:01 a.m. local time.
Joe Manganiello, Jessica Pohly, Alia Shawkat and Stephanie Beatriz also star in the story of a mysterious stranger who inspires Pee-wee to take his first vacation.
Except for guest appearances on shows including “Top Chef” in 2012 and “Comedy Bang! Bang!” in 2013, Pee-wee hasn’t headlined since HBO’s recording of his 2011 Broadway show.
