‘Saturday Night Live’ Prince tribute: Fred Armisen plays iconic artist

NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” paid tribute to Prince over the weekend with an hour-long episode dedicated to the legendary musician who died last week.

The show was hosted by “SNL” alum and “Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon.

“Tonight we wanted to pay tribute to him by looking back at his performances on the show over the years and by remembering what he meant to us – which was a lot,” Fallon said during the opening monologue.

In a skit posted to the show’s YouTube channel, Prince (played by Fred Armisen) is joined on stage by Beyoncé (played by Maya Rudolph) for “The Prince Show” with guests Tobey Maguire (played by Shia LaBeouf) and Nancy Grace (played by Amy Poehler).

The episode included video of Prince’s appearances on “SNL” over the years.
