Most celebrities were gracious and understanding. A few others couldn’t resist having a bit of fun. Even some of the funniest big names seemed to ease up on Harvey, who incorrectly announced the pageant winner as Miss Colombia and then had to apologize on live television as the crown went to the “real winner,” Miss Philippines. Long Island’s own, comedian Amy Schumer, tweeted “So nervous. I’m up next #MissUniverse2015” with an unflattering picture of herself in a woolen hat, black glasses and little or no makeup. Actor-comic D.L. Hughley tweeted links to his Instagram page, including one where he posted a photograph of Tracy Morgan playing Harvey on a “Saturday Night Live” skit of “Family Feud” and the comment: “And the Winner is: Miss Philombia.” Justin Bieber posted a link on his Twitter account of a digitally altered photo that quickly went viral. It put Harvey’s head on Bieber’s body with the message: “Is it too late now to say sorry?” “It’s so sad but this is too funny had to post no disrespect,” Bieber added as he shared the photograph via Instagram. Former big-time athletes Emmitt Smith and Magic Johnson led some of the more understanding celebrities. Smith, the NFL hall of fame running back, tweeted: “We all make mistakes. @IAmSteveHarvey you owned it. Let’s celebrate the new @MissUniverse @piawurtzbach #MissUniverse2015” And Johnson, the NBA hall-of-famer and minority owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, tweeted: “Steve Harvey made a mistake tonight, we’ve all made mistakes in our careers & lives. @IAmSteveHarvey keep the faith and keep going strong!” By Gary Dymski firstname.lastname@example.org @GARYDYMSKI Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Comments Comments section is temporarily on hold.
