Walt Disney Animation Studios on Thursday confirmed a release date and other details for the sequel to its 2014 animated hit “Wreck-It Ralph,” reports Newsday contributor Frank Lovece.
The original film’s director, Rich Moore, and its co-screenwriter, Phil Johnston, announced they would co-direct. Star John C. Reilly joined them to announce that the unnamed sequel would hit theaters March 9, 2018.
Reilly, 51, who voiced the title character in the film about videogame characters who have lives outside their games once the arcade closes for the night, said that in the sequel the well-meaning Ralph “leaves the arcade and wrecks the Internet.”
