JetBlue Mint: First class for rosé drinkers and LES brunchers

If you’re planning a flight from Wall St. to Silicon Valley (and can’t arrange for a private jet), you’re in luck! JetBlue Mint, the luxury class from the popular budget airline, will treat you like big spender you truly are.

Mint is currently only available between JFK and San Francisco (SFO) or Los Angeles (LAX), but you wouldn’t want to spend any less than five hours in the pod-like private-ish seats with a menu designed by local food artisans and complimented by a curated wine list.

The first U.S. airline to serve rosé in the sky, the flight itself may be the best part of your trip.

While airplane food is rarely something to crave, Mint has partnered with Saxon + Parole (316 Bowery) to make your first class in-flight meal a lot less sufferable. A tapas-style menu includes seasonal small plates like an amuse bouche of truffled portobello mushroom mousse with whiskey jelly, ricotta gnudi with English peas and truffle peelings in sweet butter sauce and a roasted Atlantic cod in tomato caper sauce with white beans and fennel.

While a tasting on the ground at the Lower East Side restaurant proved tasty, would an entire plane smelling like fish be appetizing?

Perhaps if you drink enough of the signature Mint cocktail, spiked with Grey Goose, or enjoy a tailored wine pairing including rare California blends that reportedly cannot be found in most NYC wine stores. Like what you drink onboard? JetBlue can hook you up with the wineries to purchase more of these allegedly rare bottles.

And if you’re feeling tired from your mile high feast, just perk up a bit with an espresso from  Brooklyn Roasting Co., made on the first purposely-built espresso machine for an airline in the U.S.

You probably don’t need to be convinced that flying Mint is a nice way to enjoy the lap of luxury in the sky, but how much is it going to cost? A one-way flight to California hovers around $600 at the very lowest and goes above $1000 depending on time and date.

If you have an extra two grand lying around, JetBlue Mint is your restaurant/wine bar/coffee shop in the sky that we’re pretty eager to board.

And oh yeah, there’s free WiFi!
