Lifestyle National Cat Day: 11 Instagram cats from NYC you need to follow By NINA RUGGIERO Updated October 29, 2015 11:13 AM Print Share fbShare Tweet Email We know you spend half your day double-tapping cat selfies on Instagram anyway, but good news! On National Cat Day, you have an extra excuse to indulge. And while you immerse yourself in the world of furry feline photos, why not get to know a few local cats? Here are 9 we love to follow. Samhaseyebrows Photo Credit: Samhaseyebrows via Instagram @samhaseyebrows Sam's arched black "eyebrows," which make him look perpetually surprised, are quite refreshing in this city filled with the blasé and unimpressed. Sam has been spotted hanging out with stars as big as Grumpy Cat, but he's just like us, really. He hates Mondays, takes the occasional selfie and sometimes even dresses as a lion. Princess Monster Truck Photo Credit: Princessmonstertruck via Instagram @princessmonstertruck Princess Monster Truck is awesome for so many reasons, including, but not limited to, her bad girl name, signature under-bite and the fact that she has her own clothing line.Add in her human's efforts to use her popularity to encourage others to adopt animals in need, and you can't have anything but respect for this fierce NYC feline. Indie the Melancholy Cat Photo Credit: Mymelancholycat via Instagram @mymelancholycat Indie is a deep-thinking New York City cat who seems to enjoy staring pensively out windows, hiding in small spaces and lying around while debating the meaning of life. Bonus: Indie has an adorable little sister, who also makes quite a few Instagram appearances. Elvis The King Photo Credit: Elvissays via Instagram @elvissays Elvis, who has an impressive range of poses in his Instagram portfolio, is a self-described "nap taker, lap sitter, meow maker, door greeter, bow tie wearer," and he also rocks a mean hoodie and celebrates "Tongue Out Tuesdays." We're down with that. Felix Photo Credit: Felix_meow via Instagram @felix_meow This dapper southern gentleman is a New York City transplant from Nashville. Still a typical guy when he's not dressed to the nines, Felix has been known to steal the remote control and spend a little too much time admiring himself in the mirror. Baby Arnau Photo Credit: Babyarnau via Instagram @babyarnau This good looking #gingercat's interests include the New York Times book review, strolling the Upper East Side, enjoying picnics in the park and taking cat naps, of course. Neyland and Knox York Photo Credit: Meow_york_kitties via Instagram @meow_york_kitties Neyland and Knox are taking on "Meow York" one paw at a time. While Neyland does some #Caturday morning yoga, Knox keeps an eye on the neighborhood birds. But it's when they're together, cuddling, people watching and even lounging around that their Instagram domination is at its peak. Prince Harry Photo Credit: Princeharrythecat via Instagram @princeharrythecat This cat claims to be the feline version of Prince Harry of Wales, but he's putting a very New York twist on his royal role. This Prince Harry cheers on the Yankees and Rangers -- that's our kind of cat. Honorary NYer: Hamilton the Hipster Cat Photo Credit: Hamilton_the_hipster_cat via Instagram @hamilton_the_hipster_cat Hamilton actually hails from California, but the fact that this prime specimen of mustached hipster perfection doesn't live in Brooklyn is a crying shame. We give him honorary mention in hopes that it will encourage him to head east, so we can fulfill our dreams of watching indie films, wearing ironic T-shirts and riding bicycles through Williamsburg together. My Gay Cats Photo Credit: MyGayCats via Instagram @mygaycats This pair of cats, Whitman and Antoine, lives in Brooklyn and does all sorts of cute things together, like cuddle and cuddle more.
