Bike rentals coming to Randall’s Island

Randall’s Island is the place to be come summer: it’s home to more than half the athletic fields in Manhattan, hosts the Governor’s Ball Music Festival and other events and is also a natural oasis in the East River.

And now, all of that can be enjoyed from a rented bicycle. For the first time ever, bikes will be available for visitors to the island. Explore the scenic pathways, waterfront art and urban farm from the seat of a bicycle!

Co-sponsored by River Crossing Apartments and the Randall’s Island Park Alliance, the new bike rental program begins Memorial Day weekend and runs every Saturday and Sunday through the end of summer. Blazing Saddles Bike Rentals & Tours will run the rental program.

Various bikes will be available for adults and kids of all sizes.

Discount parking will be available at River Crossing, at 1956 First Ave., a block from the 103rd Street Walking Bridge, which leads to the island and the bike rentals. The island is also accessible via car bridges, but no subways stop there.
