With the warmer weather approaching, it’s time to put away your classic winter lip shades and opt for a bolder and brighter pout.

This season, try a strong flaming orange color or choose a softer variation — depending on your skin tone.

Jodie Boland, CK One Color global ambassador, said women with fair skin should go with a lighter shade, like a melon or a coral stain, and women with darker skin tones “look great in a strong orange lip.”

That natural, “no-makeup” makeup look starts with gorgeous skin, says makeup artist Alexis Orlando, of Laura Mercier. To keep skin looking clear and flawless, Orlando recommends exfoliating two to three times per week.

Use a tinted moisturizer or a full-coverage foundation, but only in the areas you need it, then add a cream-based cheek color and/or bronzer.

On the eyes, keep makeup minimal — a single neutral shadow and a touch of mascara, Orlando says — and stick to a nude shade for the lips.

True-blue lids

The focus of this look is the eyes, so keep the rest of the face fresh and simple, says Orlando, of Laura Mercier.

Start by using a single neutral shadow on the eye to even out the color of the lids, then choose a blue that works with your skintone. Ladies with fair skin should pick a light blue or a blue/green, those with a medium skintone should go with a brighter blue or pop of turquoise and women with darker skin look great in richer shades like navy.

The color should start at the lashline and graduate up to the lid toward the crease. Also use the neutral color on the crease.

White shadow and liner stood out on the runways of Fashion Week. Both matte shadows and shimmer shadows can be used to create highlights or a trendy cat-eye.

“White pencil used on your waterline whitens, brightens and opens your eye up,” says Billy B., L’Oréal Paris consulting makeup artist.
