Today is the 10th anniversary of an event where the only bloomers present are the flowers themselves. The organizers at least figured that “Why?” would be one of the first questions asked, so they were kind enough to offer the answer near the top of their website. (Feel free to search for the URL yourself, but be warned: Some of the pictures on there are so NSFA -- not safe for anywhere -- that it might force you to clear the cache on your laptop, then burn it.) Anyhow, the explanation, sans edit: “First of all, it's fun! Second only to swimming, gardening is at the top of the list of family-friendly activities people are most ready to consider doing nude. Moreover, our culture needs to move toward a healthy sense of both body acceptance and our relation to the natural environment. Gardening naked is not only a simple joy, it reminds us -- even if only for those few sunkissed minutes -- that we can be honest with who we are as humans and as part of this planet.” By JOSH STEWART / NEWSDAY firstname.lastname@example.org Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Comments Comments section is temporarily on hold.
