Shooter in Brooklyn blasts man inside car, leaves him critically injured: cops

Detectives in Brooklyn are looking for the shooter who opened fire on a man and left him critically injured on Wednesday night.

Police said the shooting happened at about 8:49 p.m. on April 27 near the corner of Junius Street and Liberty Avenue in Brownsville.

According to law enforcement sources, the suspect ambushed the 24-year-old man as the victim sat in a vehicle parked at the location. The shooter fired at least one shot which struck the victim in the chest.

The gunman — whom police described as a Black man wearing all black clothing — was last seen fleeing southbound on foot along Junius Street.

Officers from the 73rd Precinct responded to the scene. EMS rushed the victim to Brookdale University Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

So far, police have not yet ascertained the circumstances leading up to the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing, with no arrests reported as of Thursday morning.
