A driver moving in the wrong direction along the Belt Parkway caused a massive collision on Tuesday, killing both himself and a 79 year-old man.
According to police, Queens resident Winston Ramdeen was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of the Belt Parkway near Exit 11 in Canarsie, when he sideswiped several vehicles with his 2001 Infiniti QX4.
Ramdeen then allegedly continued driving eastbound down the Belt Parkway before colliding head-on with a 2007 Nissan Sentra that was traveling westbound near Exit 13.
First responders arrived at the chaotic scene to find both cars severely damaged, and both Ramdeen and the 79 year-old driver of the Nissan in critical condition.
Paramedics rushed both men to Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center, where doctors pronounced them both dead.
The driver of the Nissan Sentra’s identity is currently being withheld pending proper family notification.
According to the eNYPD, no additional injuries have been reported and the investigation is currently ongoing by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad.
