Two homeless people were arrested in Manhattan after they were caught swiping packages from an apartment building.
According to police, at 1:04 a.m. on May 20, officer George McFall was off-duty and headed home when he saw 35-year-old Tatiana Williams and 30-year-old Devon Tally pressing multiple buzzers at 560 Hudson Street. He then allegedly saw the suspects taking packages that belonged to a 32-year-old male, a 25-year-old female and a 32-year old male without permission.
When Williams and Tally fled the scene, Officer McFall followed and alerted the 6th Precinct. Officers responded to the scene and apprehended Williams in front of 308 West 11th Street and Tally in front of 304 West 11th Street. The packages were recovered from the suspects.
Williams and Tally were charged with two counts of burglary each, possession of burglary tools, criminal trespassing and criminal possession of stolen property. Tally was also charged with petit larceny and obstructing governmental administration.
Police Commissioner Dermot Shea praised the officers on Twitter for their work.
