Manhattan burglars stole $8K in cellphones and tablets, struggle with subway turnstile

Two geniuses who couldn’t figure out how to use a subway turnstile nevertheless were able to break into a Manhattan cellphone store over the weekend.

Police released video of the two perpetrators wanted for the April 18 burglary, which occurred at 3:45 a.m. inside UN Plaza Wireless at 865 First Ave.

According to law enforcement sources, the crooks used a metal object to smash open the glass front door. Once the got in, they grabbed an assortment of 15 iPhones, iPads and Samsung cellphones, worth a combined $8,050. 

Afterward, the thieves fled the scene in an unknown direction. The theft was later reported to the 17th Precinct.

The video police released on Sunday shows the two suspects inside the 51st Street station on the 6 line attempting to walk through the turnstile. At first, they bump into the turnstile, apparently surprised it didn’t move; one of them then decides to climb over it.
