An NYPD Public Safety Team arrested Tuesday afternoon a 21-year-old alleged drug dealer who was also found allegedly carrying an illegal firearm in Midtown, police sources confirmed.

According to sources familiar with the incident, transit officers inside the 42nd Street Port Authority Bus Terminal train station spotted a man attempting to sell what they believed to be a large amount of cocaine at around 1:04 p.m. on Nov. 15. When officers stopped Tyrone Roberson of Chelsea Manhattan, he allegedly attempted to resist arrest by flailing his arms and refusing to be handcuffed.

Once cops restrained Roberson, they found an illegal and loaded handgun, and what they described as a shiv — two potentially lethal weapons.

Roberson is no stranger to police encounters, having been arrested six times in the past. In 2019, Roberson was cuffed for attempted murder, while in 2021 he was arrested for criminal possession of a weapon.

For this latest infraction, Roberson is charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, and one count of resisting arrest.

NYPD Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell took to Twitter Tuesday to thank the officers for getting another gun off the streets.

“Highly-skilled and strategically deployed this afternoon at the 42nd Street Subway Station—officers from the @NYPDTransit Public Safety Team arrested a man who was in possession of this loaded handgun. We’re grateful for the work of these Finest and their commitment to our city,” the top cop tweeted.
