It was a long time coming for Colin Gregory, The Villager’s retail ad manager, but 2009 was finally his lucky year, as The Villager won third place in the coveted, overall Advertising Excellence category in the New York Press Association’s Better Newspaper Contest. In an e-mail statement, Gregory said, “Colin is no longer the Susan Lucci of New York Press Association awards.” Later, he could be overheard saying, “I’ve been waiting 19 years for this.” Known for his unique sales pitch, Gregory sells display ads.
