Hot on the high-kicking heels of Bastille Day festivities on Thurs., July 14, Air America Radio’s “Morning Sedition” broadcast live from Restaurant Florent at 69 Gansevoort St. from 6-9 a.m. on Friday. “The place was packed with people. It was really, really great,” said restaurant owner Florent Morellet, who was also interviewed on the program. “I am not listening to Air America regularly, but this show, particularly, was done with much irony. I really appreciated it.” Guests on the weekday morning program, which is hosted by Mark Riley and Marc Maron, included a folk singer and several comedians who joked about the Karl Rove C.I.A. leak scandal and Governor Pataki running for president. The show often broadcasts from different locations. Morellet said someone connected with the program had eaten at Florent and, noticing pasted-up newspaper clips — some from The Villager — of the eatery’s past political satirical events, decided the place had a political-yet-fun je ne sais quoi sort of flavor perfect for the show. Air America will return to Florent for the restaurant’s 20th anniversary celebration on Oct. 21.
