The photo was shared to Facebook by 21-year-old Arika Stovall on Sunday, hours after she and her boyfriend were involved in what she describes as a horrific car accident in Nashville, Tennessee. According to WTVF, neither of them remember many details about the crash. She writes that her boyfriend, Hunter Hanks, was driving when the pair drifted off the road at speeds nearing 85 mph, striking a pillar. Hank lost consciousness after the initial impact, but was somehow able to regain control of the car to avoid crashing into a bridge. Stovall acknowledges that her boyfriend’s quick actions helped save their lives, but she believes a higher power protected them both. “I’m overwhelmed at how little damage was done to Hunter and I in a wreck that should have chopped our bodies in half,” she writes, continuing to note that neither one of them suffered any broken bones or internal damage. Paramedics told the couple they were shocked that they survived the impact, saying their car looked as if it had “been through a tree grinder.” The couple’s photo has been shared more than 70,000 times on Facebook by users who are amazed by their story. “You are both blessed. This is a miracle,” Facebook user Laura Mack Harlan writes. “Personally, I believe you were both spared to share your story,” another writes.
