Bronx detectives are on the hunt for the suspect who shot a Yonkers man dead and wounded a woman on Wednesday afternoon.
Police said the double shooting happened near an apartment building and grocery store located at 2690 University Ave. in Kingsbridge Heights just before 5 p.m. on April 23.
Officers from the 50th Precinct rushed to the scene after receiving a 911 call about an assault in progress. Upon arriving, they found 28-year-old Marji Daoud, a Yonkers resident, with a gunshot wound to his head.

EMS rushed Daoud to St. Barnabas Hospital in critical condition; he died there a short time later.
During the investigation, police learned of a second victim in the shooting: a 33-year-old woman who arrived via private means at Woodhull Hospital in Brooklyn with a gunshot wound to her left hip. She was admitted there for treatment and listed in stable condition.
The motive for the shooting is unknown at this time. As of Thursday morning, the NYPD did not have a description of a potential suspect. Law enforcement sources indicated that both victims, however, may not have been the shooter’s intended targets.
So far, no arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation, police said.
