Asian Americans for Equality will have its fourth annual Chinatown Summer Festival this Sunday, Aug. 8. This year, the festival will open at 11 a.m. and close at 5 p.m., running along Bayard St. from Baxter to Elizabeth Sts. The four blocks will host a variety of cultural, civic and children’s events.
The musical highlight of the Festival will be the Cantonese Opera singing contest There will be balloons, an exhibition by the Chinese Martial Arts Federation and a dance performance by the Japanese Folk Dancing Institute of New York. Local businesses and health care providers will also have booths, including a free health screening area. “Living in America,” a guide for immigrants, will also be available free of charge throughout the day.
