On this page is a collection of vintage Villager ads pulled from the pages of the newspaper from 1933 to 1946. Dinner at an Italian restaurant like Lola Magnozi on Charles St. went for $1.25, though more frugal eaters could pay 50 cents for the blue-plate special at Conte Restaurant on Lafayette St. or 75 cents for dinner at Mike’s Restaurant on MacDougal St. “Spellbound” with Ingrid Bergman was playing at the Waverly movie theater, while “Tomorrow Is Forever” with Orson Welles was running at the Greenwich.
