Doris Diether, former vice chairperson of the Community Board 2 Zoning Committee, will give a series of four lectures, “Decoding Zoning in N.Y.C.” from 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m. on Wednesdays April 13, 27 and May 4, 11 at the CUNY Graduate Center 365 Fifth Ave. at 34th St.
The April 13 lecture presents an overview of zoning, its history, what is permitted in the various districts and landmarking. The April 27 lecture will consider zoning’s impact on how the city looks and how to read a zoning map. The May 4 lecture covers what uses and signs are permitted in each district, and the May 11 program will cover the interaction of various agencies and their role in zoning decisions, including the Board of Standards and Appeals, City Planning Commission, Department of Buildings and the community boards.
